How does the service work?

If you'd like to know more about our service from a technical perspective please click here for more details.

Who are your clients?

For reasons of client confidentiality we do not publish our client list. However we cover most market sectors and our current clients include a wide range of companies from US and European multinationals to UK plcs and start-ups. We also supply to PR agencies and to other organisations involved in news monitoring.

What sources do you monitor?

We monitor over 5,000 UK online media sources plus several thousand global sources. In addition we track content on over 14,000 Newsgroups, 2,300 Chat Forums and 4,500 Blogs. The exact list of sources we monitor varies over time as new sites are constantly added. We frequently add sites on request as part of our tailored approach to web monitoring.

Do you only monitor English language sources?

No. The software we use works equally well on any content that uses Latin characters. And in fact a large portion of our work comprises international web monitoring. We cannot index non Latin character sets (such as Cyrillic script) currently but we can often cover these sites through partnership agreements. As a result we can offer a genuinely global service.

Can I monitor my competitor's e-mails?

No! We monitor publicly accessible web pages. We do not hack into non-public information of any sort. You can track your competitor's press releases though.

I've heard of some US based services, aren't they much better?

Of course we have competitors many, of whom are based in the US. Many tend to operate on a one size fits all basis and to monitor a largely US biased selection of sites. Our clients seem to prefer the level of service we offer and the fact that the sources they monitor are tailored just to them.

What does the service cost?

We provide a bespoke service so it varies. We provide quotations with full pricing once you have briefed us. However we can often provide a quick ballpark cost if required. Please call for details.

How long does the service take to set-up?

It varies depending on how complex your requirements are but usually no more than a few days.

What formats do you deliver in?

We can deliver in a variety of formats and to a variety of update schedules. Delivery formats include XML (NewsML), PDF, HTML and WORD.

Can I try the service before I subscribe?

Of course! We're happy to run trials to ensure you are happy with the service before you sign-up.

What about copyright?

Copyright law as it pertains to online media is still developing and as such it is an area that we keep under constant review. If you have detailed questions please get in touch but it is worth adding that we are careful to ensure compliance and have had no legal action threatened or taken against us in the 5 years we have been trading.

Who is New Media Intelligence owned by?

New Media Intelligence is an independent private company based in the UK. It is not owned by any external media group and so can be 100% objective.

Have you got any new services in the pipeline?

Yes we have. In a sector as dynamic as new media it is important for us to try and "see over the horizon". Currently we are working on a tool that will act as an early warning system for issues that may hit the mainstream press. If you would to find out more about this system and even be involved with it's Beta testing please get in touch.
